I have a very clean, pretty much bone stock, 82 seca 750. I'm having a problem with front end shimmy when coasting. It seems to go away when under power. Any ideas?

Ditto with the shimmy after installing new Bridgestone on the front, all balanced up, installation was reverse of removal. Bad tire I'm thinking, I was watching it wobble from side to side, sucked at 70.

Thanks. This is my 3rd XJ (one maxim, 2 secas) My tires are in good shape but due replacement just because of age. Hopefully that will cure the problem. Fortunately its only a low speed shimmy.

I am looking for an aftermarket steering stabilizer for my '80' XJ Maxim.

Has anyone ever heard of or installed one?

The seca used to have a touring fairing as an option that came with a steering stabilizer. Maybe a shop that's been around a long time might have one. Or perhaps a cycle salvage center.
