North Carolina Registration?

    I have an '81 550 Maxim that I need to register. I have the title. What exactly do I need to do to register with the DMV? I tried looking on the website but it isn't very clear...

    take the title and register it . if your state requires insurance you need to get it first . if your not sure call the tag office they can tell you if you need insurance

    If you have a title that you want to transfer into your name, just take it to DMV and process it. There will be fees. In NC you can get a title only--no plate. This works well if you need to get the bike running or you want to put off working on it for a while. If you want a plate you will need to provide DMV with proof of insurance at the time you visit. They will process the title and give you a registration and plate at the same time. NC is very quick about getting the new title to you. It take about two weeks.
