New to the site but I have owned my 83 750 seca since the dealer took out of the box for me in 87. Anyway no issues till now. Just bought and charged a new battery. Put it in and it won't turn over juct a click from the solenoid. Battery has good charge. Any help or redirection would be helpful never had this issues with prior battery rplacements.

    thanks

I would say a its a bad starter solenoid. If you have a meter or test light check for voltage at the starter when pushing the start button. Voltage present and starter is not turning means the starter is bad. No voltage would mean the solenoid is bad. Let us know what you find.

Could be bad connections. Sounds like not enough juice getting to the starter. I'm not sure how you jump it on these bikes... somebody will surely be with you shortly :)

the solenoid has two terminals like a ford starter relay. touch the two terminals with a screwdriver or something. what your doing is the same the solenoid does only your not using the solenoid. y our basically connecting the battery straight to the starter. if it cranks, then you know it's the solenoid. if it don't crank then it's the starter, froze motor, or not enough battery juice but you said it's new and charged.

if the solenoid clicks. then the starter button is working and the solenoid has voltage. the solenoid might have a bad ground. or it is faulty.

    Pull the Starter.
    Piece of cake.

    Undo the long screws.
Pull the Aluminum Case back ... just enough to get a peek at the Brushes and the Commutator.

If the Brushes are worn-out ... replace them.
If the Commutator is "Filthy" with Carbon Dust ...
Spray the whole Electrical end with Electrical Contact Renew or
    Isopropyl Alcohol.
(If you use Isopropyl Alcohol, ... Poke the top pf the Bottle with a Pop Rivet and squeeze the stuff in ... right out of the Bottle!)
Keep spraying until what drips out ... is as clean as what goes in.

    Spray the Commutator
    Brushes
    Housings
    The whole works.

Shine a light on the Commutator
See if it looks damaged in any way.
    No?

See how that works for you?

A Starter failing to Spin ... is NOT the Test for a Bad Solenoid.

Current might be reaching the Starter.
The Starter might not be in a condition to spin.

    TEST the Starter!

all the solenoid does is makes the connection from the battery to the starter motor. the solenoid doesn't make the starter crank. if the starter isn't cranking over do what rick said. take apart and clean her up.
