I have a decent headlight bucket that I don't need. I bought it off the bay for my XJ750, and it was advertised as a 750 bucket, but it's not. It is slightly larger than the 750 bucket so I assume it's for the 900? On the back it's labeled Yamaha YHA-159 SAE M 81.

It's in decent shape, no cracks but a few small dents, with good rubber gaskets on the outside and the white plastic 'ears' on the inside.

If anybody knows what bike this fits or is interested, let me know. Thanks.

The USA 900 didn't have a Headlight "Bucket".

The rectangular Headlight clipped to the upper part of the Front fairing where it god fastened to two anchoring captive threaded inserts in the fiberglass.

Thanks Rick. I probably shouldn't have assumed the 900 and may have to repost this w/out the xj900.

I'm still not sure what bike this bucket is for, maybe it is a non US item? And I don't think it's for the XS series because they had round lights?

I know the bucket on my xj750rj is YHA-150 SAE M 80. This extra, rectangular bucket I have is YHA-159 SAE M 81. They are similar looking, but the M 81 is slightly larger. The bottoms of the buckets are slightly different too... the bottom on the M 81 is not as open...well there's no bottom on the M 80... I guess because it sits on top of that smaller, plastic, vented piece.

    Silver,

There was at least 1 year when the XS1100 had a rectangular headlight. This part might also be for the 750 Maxim - the horns were not in an enclosed area under the headlight like the Seca.

I can take a pic tonite and try to post tomorrow - I had difficulty with posting a pic before so I guess it's time to learn how to resize and do this.

It was labeled xj750 when I bought it and I assumed it wasn't because it's different than my 82 xj750. Maybe the buckets for the xj750 changed over the years and this is a different year - maybe an 84?

Attached is a pic of the buckets. The larger one, the M 81 is available and cheap.

It looks more like a Maxim headlight to me, but I guess it could also be a Virago 750 headlight bucket but assuming the seller had it correctly labeled then it's probably from a Maxim 750.

So did you get this because your OEM Seca bucket was broken or what?

Thanks for the info. Yep, I cracked the original bucket when I dropped the bike. I repaired the crack after I bought another bucket. The repaired bucket is the smaller one in the pic. It doesn't look too bad so I'll keep it just in case.
