I just put new needles and seats in the bike 1981 Maxim 650 and now it will fire after a while of holding the stater button but as soon as I give it gas it just dies, any help would be awesome.

Are the new float needles the same size as the old ones? some aftermarket float needles are longer, which would mean that float height would need to be re-adjusted. If that's not done, the fuel level in the bowls will be way low... This would explain the symptoms.

Also, make sure you didn't mix up the choke and throttle cables.

EDIT: oh yeah, also a huge vacuum leak could cause that, so check and make sure all the vacuum lines are connected.
