Iddle problems

    When I start my bike cold she iddles at about 1500 rpm after riding her for awhile she crawls up to 2500 or so. I tried the iddle knob but it didn't work after unscrewing all the way it didnt change.

    I might be wrong but, it sounds like you should bench sync correctly and then do the full sync.

    check your throttle cable adjustment, it may just be a little too tight and not releasing to idle, or maybe it needs lube.

    I had this happen when I put my rebuilt Seca back on the road - Set idle speed at around 1000rpm then took it for a ride - then it went up to about 5000rpm when I pulled the clutch in. Turned out that the idle adjuster was self-adjusting due to being a bit of a sloppy fit. I put ptfe tape on the thread to hold it steady.

    I notice that the bike is extremely sensitive to even the smallest adjustment to idle speed - if it goes out a bit I can't even get it to start - just floods the engine...

    I've learned to leave idling adjustment well alone and my starting sequence is to turn it over without choke, then quickly (but gradually) introduce a little bit of choke and then open the throttle a fraction when it fires.

    If it doesn't catch straight away then I have to leave it 5 minutes and repeat the process.

    A fully charged battery makes it a lot more certain to start up easily.
