now that i've chopped my rear end off and lost the luggage compartment i have to find a new place for my documents. where do you guys keep yours? i don't want to keep them in my wallet so i won't lose them if my wallet ever disappears, and with the trigger happy police we have around here i don't want to keep them in the pocket inside my jacket where my garage opener is because they would probably think i'm going for a gun.

Isn't there a little snap-on "document compartment" on the bottom of your seat? There is on my 550 Secas.

If you have two 3" or so long slots running crosswise on the bottom of the seat, about 3" apart, that's where it USED to be.

If the two slots I mentioned are there all you need is the little plastic tray.

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
    in my wallet...

no extra 'security' issues if the wallet is lost. my DL is in there. my CPL is in there. my insurance card is in there...

the cops still get to wait while i thumb through two cars and now FOUR bikes...

okay, i dont have all four insured and tagged but i DID have three of them at one time...

i'm not worried so much about security as i am worried they don't fit anywhere nicely. folding up big pieces of paper and stuffing them in my wallet makes me a sad panda.

I use a camping pouch that seals with velcro and goes around my neck under my riding jacket. Allegedly waterproof too. When I arrive at my destination I just hide the pouch under my shirt. You can still see the string but who cares?

I use a zip-lock bag under the seat, wedged or trapped in there somehow. My trap doors are missing.

In my tool box area - I laminated mine for extra measure :)

5.0 will have to wait for me to remove my saddle bags then unlock my seat then unstrap my tools and pull out cards LOL

i keep mine in my vest pocket. However, I DO really reeeeeaaaalllllyyy like the idea of putting them in the most difficult, time-consuming spot to make them wait. That's hysterical. Of course, if you forget a particular tool that you need--I can see it now......uh, sir, I'm issuing a ticket for an inadaquately equipped toolpouch, and for inconvenient placement of required documents.

In the UK there isn't a requirement to carry your documents but if you don't have them with you, a "5 day wonder" (actually 7, now but it used to be 5 when I started biking) is issued to you to submit your licence and insurance to a local police station.

In London these are referred to as "producers" because you have to produce your documents.
