Hey I have gotten my homemade fork tool stuck inside the inner fork tube. It was made from a bolt and 2 nuts which came off and are now pinched against the bolt threads and the wall of the fork tube.

I have tried to drive the bolt down but it took the nut with it. I have also tried to slam it into a piece of wood to dislodge it. I even took a welding rod and made a hook and tried to pull the nut out but it broke the welding rod.

So if anyone has any ideas or an extra right fork leg please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Place a piece of PINE 2 X 8 on a Cement Floor.
Duct Tape the Corners of the wood to keep if from moving.

Raise-up the Fork Tube and Strike the 2X8 very-heavily to have the Parts not permanently affixed to the Inside of the Fork Tube get placed in Motion ...

Sir Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion will all be applied to the objects formerly at rest, then quickly set in Motion, when the Fork Tube stops very suddenly in an inelastic collision with the 2X8.

Maybe they aren't jammed-up down in there too bad?

    Knock on wood !!!

maybe you could spin the bolt and it will thread itself out or if you put your allen key in the bolt on the bottom and give it some real sharp smacks it might just come out, i've done this and it worked
it's not how hard you hit it it's how fast, if it spins too easy try pushing the fork together or pulling it apart to get some friction on the rod

The local Yamaha bike shop use an air gun (rattle or burp gun) on the Allen key to undo them. Can you get another tool down the fork. I used a spark plug socket in reverse (3/8" drive) with a couple of extensions, the top of the spark plug socket fits the top of the bottom fork tube bit.

the bolts threads are biteing into the sidewall of the fork tube and the 3/4 nut on the other side. It is above the dampning rod so I can't get to it to remove it. I am afraid that it is bad enough that I am going to have to cut the inner tube off to get it out.

+1 on the air gun, find a tire shop with some bikes out front
you might have to buy some 3/8 drive allen keys

If you are fighting with a Stripped-out Fork Tube Damper-Retaining Cap Screw at the bottom of the Fork Tube, ...

Just Drill the "Cap" off the Cap Screw.
    The damper will be released.
There will be the fragment of the Cap Screw protruding from the bottom of the Damper.

You'll likely have no trouble removing the fragment.
