Nice job on the build how bad was it to start with? Will have to check out the other pics when not at work where they wont let us on many sites.... but this one isnt blocked yet

 

well to reply to schooter no that plate is not at all legal im planning to mount some angle iron to one of the turn signal mounts with a plate size piece of sheet metal and then put the plate on that and then a license plate cover hopefully this weekend

 

every thing i did to this bike was free until my dumba$$ took the stock airbox out before i read that to switch to pods u need to rejett basically so it sat for about 3 months while i tried franken jetting by filing the jets bigger with guitar strings( didnt work at all) so finally last week i got the money to buy the jet kit the carb repair kit and a new throttle cable so last weekedn i took the carb off put the jets in installed the throttle cable put everything back together and the bike wldnt start
i charged it for like 2 hrs and then came back out and realized that the bike didnt roll duh it wasnt in neutral so i gear it neutral and it starts but runs full throttle (i have open headers) it was so loud i thought my ear were gonna bleed so i took the carbs off again and it turned out i had put the floats in upside down by the time i realized this and corrected the problem the mail came and my carb repair kit was with it so back into the basement to take it apart AGAIN put the car kit on chngd the float needles take it back outside put everything together and it starts but it runs super lean when i throttle up top speed is like 35 and it takes forever toget there oh well i think i go to bed and im thinkin man the bike runs slow when i use the throttle but when i reach down and open the butterflys it runs super fast :idea: i had attached the throttle cable to the choke post so of course its not gonna run right so at like 1 oclock in the morning in my semi suburban neighborhood i go out swa the cable to the right spot and voila the bike screams scared me when i first took off cause i was so used to it goin so slow buyt overall im pretty happy with how it turned out so far in total i got the bike for free and including gas ive bought i spent abt 275 dollars i still have some 14 inch apes im gonna put on and the longer throttle and clutch cables to go with that i already have the longer brake line i also still need www tires and new grips and seat but thats what a rat build is all abt u do what u can when u can and love every minute of it

ps this is not only the first bike ive ever worked on but its the first street bike i ever owned or rode and ive olny riden a dirtbike once

Nice work it musta sucked to see it sit there for all those months, Welcome to the site and to riding its a blast

 

I did the same thing to my carbs using tourch tip cleaning files, it worked so good the first time, when they got clogged agian I did it agian and now I'm in the position you were, I should have known better but the temptation of saving money was too gret to resist. Stupid is as stupid does I guess. Good luck on the bike.
