the way i fixed my racing idle was by bench syncing the carbs, might work for you aswell

I'm sort of having the same issue as you. The carbs been replaced on my 550 seca from the original owner and ever since I had it, if it's on different positions on the choak it would idle very randomly but at least it would stay on. As soon as i take it off the idle, it would eventually die or idle around 500 and eventually die. This has made it a very hard and annoying process of teaching my fiance how to ride grrr. Hopefully once I sync the carbs and replace the battery, it will fix things. If this works, I'll let you know.

So I changed out the spark plugs and swapped in a new battery and my bike starts for instantly. I do have some idle issues when i'm in first gear when i start it up (even after it's already warmed up), but it's fine after it's ridden around for a bit. I still haven't had a change to sync the carbs, but I'm waiting to buy the carb sync tool or meet up with iwingameover.
