warningg lights/turbo

    1/Have managed to get all now running on my machine, the only warning light on the dash I can't clear is the battery one.
    The sensor is no longer there as I expect that when the battery was replaced that got lost.
    Have look and asked everywere but can't find a replacement anyone any ideas

    2/ Have manged now to get the turbo to kick in, when engaged all is fine but she does make a very strange noise when the engine then goes back to normal, is it because it may have not been working for a long time and muck build up is slowly clearing?

    Where the main Exhaust connects to the turbo plate, there are 2 smallish holes and when running a wet sort of liquid ozes through them, it is not fuel nor does it look like oil but a thicker sort of water if this makes any sense? Anyone know the best thing to seal these holes? JB WEALD has anyone tried or is there something better?

    You can make that light go away if you solder in a 4.7 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor....it just needs hooked up to a switched 12v source like the tail light lead....there is a write up w/ pics somewhere if you google about it.

    That liquid coming out of those holes is condensation (water) the holes were put there by the engineers so the pipe doesn't rust out in a few years, so you might not want to plug them....I personally had a junk extra muffler and whacked the pipe flush with the flange (so i just had a triangle flange piece) and welded a piece of a toyota 22re coolant return pipe on it, it was the right diameter and had the perfect bend on it that directs it at the pavement....not as loud as a non-turbo 650 with the baffles removed, but loud enough to sound good with lots of cackle and you can hear the turbo spool too

    Taken her out thought all was ok now but there seems to be an oil leak that is coming from the turbo/exhaust, it is steady, and wait for it can't find any yamaha dealer here that will touch it, not even look at it, because it is to old,

    Fed up at the moment after all the work gone in now this, :evil: :evil:

    Battery sensor, have you tried chacal.
    Looks to me like you have a bad turbo. The bearings are worn out and oil is passing through. It should be possible to get it renovated. I think www.turbochargers.com in Texas could do the job, but make a new post regarding turbo repair.

    Where the turbo oil line comes into the turbo at the bottom of the turbo is a connection that has two allen head screws there.There is a black sheetmetal cover that is a pain to take off but it needs to come off first. Make sure that the face of the oil line flange is flat. Just follow the oil line coming from the oil check valve you should be able to find it. I have had one that warped on me. Also check the oil feed line at the top of the turbo. It has two copper washers and they are easy enough to get at local autoparts store. Just take the old ones in and get replacements and torque to specs. Wound up spending $350 to repair the turbo when one of the fitting was what was wrong with it. Either purchase a new gasket or make one yourself and reface the fitting surface and you should be in business. Heat over time will warp the aluminum connector and the oil will leak from that area.
