Down to final stages of the resurrection......no gas tank is hooked up nor do any fuel bowls have any fuel in them.....

Pulled all 4 plugs with coil wires attached & laid on top of valve cover gasket...cranked the engine over continously & noticed that there was no spark to any plug.....

Any suggestions to why would be helpful.......IC Ignitor, or Pick-up coil...where do I start....????

    Thanks in advance......

Fuses, cut out relays, (neutral, side stand & the one on the right controls)
pick up coils, TCI, ignition coils.

    Wizard,

Brand new fuses & fuse block, neutral light is on, but what is the cut-out relay that you are talking about on the right controls ???

I am suspecting either the TCI ignitor or pick up coil....I will research for testing these components....

But what is the one you are referring to the right control?????

    Thanks

Start by testing the coils to the plugs, pull the connectors & flash 12 v at the connector, the plugs should spark.

do you mean the off/run switch.....during my cranking...the switch was in the run position......in the off position the bike wont crank...but it is designed that way......

I am just not getting any spark at all....

new plugs, new fuse block, & new fuses.....

I am suspecting the IC ignitor or Pick up coils.....but just not sure how to test....

usually if something fails you still get spark on at least 2 plugs, with no spark at all i would test for power at the TCI and at the ignition coils. if there is power at both, it could be a bad TCI (or is it possible you forgot to plug in the pickup coil connector?). if there is no power on either, it's possible the sidestand relay/switch is stuck closed or could simply be a bad connection on the power wire.

let us know what you find.

    cheers,

    Trev

Test the igniter:- pul the 4 pin from the pick up coils, then give power + & - from the battery to the pick up leads that go to the TCI, this will make the plugs spark 2 at a time. If so the TCI is giving order to fire.

those metal rings wrapped around the coils need to be grounded.

mount the coils to the frame and ground them.

P.S. coils do not "ground" to the frame. The metal ring terminals on the black wire(s) that attach to the rear coil mounting bolts (on most models) are main wiring harness grounds for various circuits, they use the coil mtg. bolt and bracket as the ground point because it's conveniently located to the main harness "bundle(s)", but the coils themselves are not grounded.....

    Chacal,

Thanks for the explanation of the grounding rings......that is exactly where I have them grounded.....to the coil bolt & bracket.....

I will test for spark today.....but got a feeling my IC ignitor is bad.....however...ouch......need to maybe swap out with a known good one....

Maybe can find a cheap pne on Ebay....TID14-06
