    Title is my basic question.

I rode 45 min to my mom's in light rain at the end. (Suppose to be
92 and dry). I grabbed some garbage bags and covered the seat, headlight bucket, and both handle bars. Then I drove her car to the hospital to visit her.

No rain gear or bike cover in my saddlebags. Glad it was a light rain. Hopefully warm and dry for night ride home.

i've ridden my '81 seca in pretty heavy raind with no problems. left outside overnight in the rain with no problems. also, the left control housing has a big chunk missing out of it (i'm assuming the previous owner crashed the bike).

No problems but it only got a little wet. It was a general question in case I have to park it in the rain again - or drive thru a downpour.

I've ridden my 81 from Long Beach Ca.>mid Oklahoma, with a 6 mo. stint in Vegas, I've had a tire come apart and rode in with bare cord sidewalls, blown fork seals, clogged jets, ethenol & watery mixture. I've had the clutch cable snap and ground to the positive battery cable and it burnt in two. Left it in the rain without side covers and ridden through deserts, mountians, rain and even dropped it in slushy hail. (so I'm a dumbaXX) It has never failed to start, (however sometimes some spray start came in handy). When they built my bike, the built one heII of a bike and it kicks Harley axx. The electrical damage that I've encountered have been only broken turn blinkers, termninals corroding and the wires comming un-soldered, and dirty connections.

I left it parked for a month when I had a broke ankle and just started it twice a week. I've never had to push start it or get a jump. It does run better with the headlight on low beam and i use the driving light for highbeam. I do notice a difference in idle speed and acceleration with the high beams on.

A little dab of silicone over the uncovered connections is good preventive maintaince. Oh and turn off the key when not not just the kill switch.

Likewise. I've ridden through hail on mine, for crying out loud.

I ride year round in Nirthwest Oregon and Southwest washington. It rains here. A lot! Never had a problem. The finicky in wet weather problem is the ignition coils can crack and allow. Misture inside which shorts them. The solution is to seal the cracks or buy new coils

    Otherwise all is good
