I received an '82 Seca 750 on trade last winter. It has 7500 miles and was in decent shape, albeit with a terrible paint job.

I refreshed the bike a bit (valve clearances, replaced rusty/missing hardware, and a completely new charging system and wire harness) and painted it. I think the end result was pretty good.

I only have one complaint- you painted the bottom part of the side covers, and it totally throws the line of the bike off, other than that, I'm glad to see you bringing an old gal back to life

I have another set of side covers that are never mounted NOS ones, they're painted the factory dark red with the black lowers, so originally I was going to paint mine yellow and black, but after playing with it in photoshop, I decided I didn't like it, and prefer it the way it is. The Yellow was too bright for the black lowers, and made it look like something was missing.

Looks much better, How about some black pinstriping to break up all thay yellow. Maybe a black Yamaha tuning fork emblem on the tank.

    That's a nice job.
YOU, ... don't see it like we do,, though.
You are too close to it.

WE can see that it needs some "Highlights"

Do yourself a favor and go browse a Auto Body Shop Supplies Store.

Door Edge Protectors will fit the Edge of the Fuel Tank.
Use a Hair Dryer to soften-up the Vinyl as you go.
Black edging would look killer around the Tank.

3M makes Pin Stripes in a WIDE variety of colors, widths and stripe combos.

They come on a Roll like Electrical Tape.
You get to apply and lift until you press them on.
    They bend around curves
    Pull straight.
You are limited by your Imagination.

There are Vinyl Decal Shops that can let you sketch a design on a sheet of scrap paper that they will convert into an applique'.

    YAMAHA \XXX\ \XX\ \x\ \ <-- (Parallelograms)

Would be the living-end on the Tank and Sides.

Rick's right; that yellow is crying out for some late '70s Kenny Roberts-style Yamaha broken black stripe graphics.

As soon as I laid the paint down I started looking for a billboard graphics set that will fit well on there. I used to have an Anniversary Edition Yamaha R1 with that paint scheme and loved it.

Schooter, here's some pics of the KZ-DR:

I think you did an outstanding job!
I like the yellow just the way it is. Yellow & black and red (tail light on Seca 750 was WAY ahead of it’s time) colors. Art in simplicity.
I like that you left off the tell tale emblems leaving on lookers guessing. Tell them it’s a new model factory prototype and ask what do they think of it.

I also like the tank bag – great profile.
I too have a Seca 750. I want that tank bag! What kind is it?

The tank bag is a Rapid Transit Recon 19.
    Here's a link to it: http://www.rapid-transit.com/rt/product ... ts_id=2175

The front mounting point works great on the spine directly aft the headstock and right in front of where the tank mount pads are. The rear mounting point works well from the perpendicular cross member directly aft of the airbox/fuse panel area.

    Thanks for the link.

    I just noticed it’s mirror-less.
That’s contributing to the sleek look.
Don’t want to put back on those ugly chrome mirrors.
Maybe the cops and inspection guy will be too blinded by the YELLOW.

I have a bar end mirror on the left side. A nice all metal and glass one from D2Moto.com
    [IMG]
I have one for the other side too, but I'm not especially keen on chopping up the throttle tube to fit it.

Ahhh. Bar end mirrors. One of my favorite topics. Here is a link to the best mirrors I have ever used on a motorcycle. Had 'em on a Virago.
