    hello all,
while resurrecting the project bike i recently purchased, it's beginning to "tell" me how it wants to look. i've stripped all paint off the gas tank with a drill-mounted wire brush and i must say i love the burnished steel look! it's pushing me to go naked with more parts and such.
also want to lose the 2 rectanglular headlamps for an older style round unit.
any advice on what to look for in a replacement unit? i've got access to a bike salvage yard nearby and would like to find a suitable replacement but also want PLENTY O' LIGHT for cruising.
thanks for your comments and suggestions.

Find a fixture that will allow conversion from quartz technology to HID technology. There are HID lamps that will allow both high and low beams from one lamp.

You will be able to see the dark side of the moon with HID.

wow, great advice! didn't even know about HID. when looking for a compatible unit, is there any wiring or configuration that will tell me it is adaptable to HID? should i just look for a unit from a newer crotch rocket bike? are those typically HID? thanks.

My limited research oh hid tells me to make sure you get a full conversion kit. It will have a ballist (sp) module that actually turns on the bulb. Not cheap but bright.

Wiring won't be a problem but consider upgrading fuse panel on bike. Sear ch the forums.

Check other square change posts. Find one from the bone yard - maybe 7in (non sealed) round, then Google motorcycle 7in hid or similar for the kit.

I'd think anyone sharing the road with you might not appreciate the HID.

I'd rather that they "not appreciate" me than not see me at all and run me over.
Now if they would just put down the cell phone and make-up and pay attention to where they were going I might be able to read my newspaper.
