Looking for a supplier, manufacturer or old dealer/collector of tail light lenses. My KG Engineering bags and trunk are no longer made and I am hoping you folks have a few aces up your collective sleeves. A fellow in Oz was recommended but never did return my emails; a fellow in Atlantic Canada searched through his collection by part number - nice of him to put that effort in; and a fellow in the US suggested I make them myself.

Well, the stuff required to do that costs about $100 to get into. All I need is one amber lens, plus one each red and amber for back up. Any suggestions welcome!

Ditch it all. Sorry don't like hard bags, except on BMW's.

Have you considered ditching the originals and upgrading to led light assemblies?

That's what I'm doing with my vetter hard trunk.

I'm using oval flush mounted truck/trailer tail lights.

Pics of you luggage may help us give you ideas.

"Manufacturers" of plastic parts RARELY own the EXPENSIVE molds they use to manufacture parts for their customers, who typically own the molds. As far as vintage plastic parts good luck unless there is still an active aftermarket.

Not ditching anything Brewer, as I love the bags. See my gallery for pics of the bags there Bob. Your conversion sounds like a great plan and if you have any pics of yours, please post in your gallery.

Problem with the KG bags is that a light assembly doesn't exist. The bag or trunk is the assembly with the light attachment points riveted to the plastic and the lens screwed to the case exterior. BTW, the gallery shows lenses before breakage...

    Anyway, any ideas are appreciated.

    You asked for ideas:

First off we need a couple of better photos to see exactly what you're after.

Secondly, KG didn't make those lenses, they bought something "off the shelf" it's just a matter of figuring out what else used them at the time. You ever notice, for instance, how motorhomes and even trailers often have light units recognizable as being from a recent-model automobile?

They LOOK really familiar. Get us some close-ups and the numbers off the lenses themselves.

Hey Fitz - nice of you to chime in. Here we go - corner lenses are KG229A for red or amber. Flat rectangular ones are KG229B. Photos should give viewers a good idea as to size and shape.

I've got the exact same set as you apparently!

However, mine didn't come with any wiring -- any chance you could pm me with some details?

I don't have the bags on at all, but I did replace all the bulbs in the trunk and bags with LED modules to save on power for when/if I ever needed them.

As for replacement lenses, those are going to be a one-off build, so I wouldn't be surprised if anyone willing to do it charged close to $100 each to recreate them - sadly :-(

I dunno, they kinda look like they came off a Chrysler K-Car.

What are the numbers on each lens? Should be some molded right on the face somewhere...
