    Ok Guys

Thought I would start a new thread as I am almost gonna go crazy with this bike, ok so the story so far I installed a new flasher because the turn signals stopped working, I first installed a 12v 23 w, the bulbs are 23w. This didn't work, so my mate lent me another flasher it says 12v DC but doesn't say what wattage it is but with this flasher the turn signals come on, they come on altogether i turn left or right it makes no difference, I in affect have hazards It would be good if i was a copper but I'm not so I'm going to try to solve this.

I have changed and up graded fuse box, changed and upgraded all connectors male and female.

Any clues as I have run out of ideas

Do I have the wrong flasher?

Make sure you get a cheap mechanical flasherr don't get one of the older ones it just makes life easier since you don't have to worry about how many watts your putting into your relay.
Autozone sells one for 7 bucks.
To be honest I used a universal realy with only two prongs and it made my aftermarket signal lights work.
With the regular relay they would just stay on no blinking.

How about reinstall the original flasher and get some 27W bulbs?

Just come back from working on the beast and I sorted it, I put a new flasher on, found a wire at back indicators wrong way round, so I unplugged the back ones and the front started working, plugged the back ones in and they started working, I also cleaned the switch and moved the unit back a little so it wasn't caught on anything, my thinking it could be either some of the wires in headlight bucket got trapped and shorted the connection out or could be the wire at the back indicator, cos earth was connected to live!!! .

I sat on the bike with it running and still good, so I will pray to the xj gods tonight and every night from now on!

    Thankx
    Daz

ps: I can't find 27w bulbs anywhere in Britain, closest is 23w and their hard to find too.

Have you tried a electronic flasher? Then it would not matter what wattage bulbe you are using.

With all four corners lighting up my first thought was a short somewhere. Glad to hear you got it sorted.
