    Newbie to the forum!

Picked up a " cleaning out my garage" '83 XJ550 last weekend from a 'friend of a friend' and got her running after it sat for at least 3 years.

The following items from ebay are coming:
Forks (surface rust has cut one seal and it is leaking a lot)
    Front brake pads (see 'Forks')
    Turn signal stubby things
Left switch housing (horn and dim/high switch broken)
    Left and Right side covers

    Still need:
Bleed front brake after new pads as it is ubber spongey and the brake light switch is not activating.
To fix speedo, previous owner put a Drag Specialties on it. No idea where to start trouble shooting this.
Replace gas cap and side lock as these are currently being opened with a screw driver. Wold like them all keyed the same.
    Investigate valve clearance checking procedure.

This isn't my first, or my only, bike so none of this scares me but I know that taping into the experiences from all of you will be a huge help! Hopefully I can return the favor.

Thanks O&B! I found your thread about this...must admit I am surprised! As the back brakes are the only thing working reliably right now I will be replacing the shoes before she rolls again.

    Thanks again!
