Hi All- new to the group but I thought I'd share some photos of my Max-X with the mods I've done to date.

    Here's what I have done:
    - New bullet turn sigs and crystal 6.5" headlamp
    - Vulcan 900 tail lamp with some 'custom' metal work (yea, right)
    - Daytona bars, grips
    - Decals including the grab bars
    - custom solo seat cowl I made

    To Come:
    - seat redo with a more modern/lower look
    - shocks and springs, maybe lowered???
    - dull/matte black paint with new (similar) grey inlay...maybe
    - new tires (yes, these are new on here but they are scary)

Bike runs great, only 25,000kms, just tuned and carbs sync'd, so what do you think? Check out my pics! Cheers.

nice looking scoot, but i'd drop the rear fender lower to the tire, i personally hate seeing so much space in between the two. but thats just my .02, take it with a grain of salt.

very sweet modern factory look, but ya, but some suzuki savage 650 shock, it's lower it a good bit while keeping the tire from scraping or anything negative

I think it's perfect. I'll bet when you sit on it, it preloads the shocks in the back pretty well, and cleans up the rear wheel gap, doesn't it? If you were to lower the back end any more, you'd have to drop the front shocks too to keep the geometry right both for looks and handling, but I doubt you could go too far without running into fender/exhaust/radiator clearance issues.

    Well done sir.

looks great! love the rear tail light.

as schooter suggested, savage 650 shocks will get rid of the rear gap. i dropped my forks through the triples about an inch and it seemed to bring the geometry back to a stock feel. you won't have much lean though when you put it on the kick stand.

Hey Guys- thanks for all the input, I'm glad the work I've put in has created positive comments. I was a little concerned with changing something that a lot of people think should stay original, but again I wanted something unique.

I agree with the gap on the rear, but I also agree with keeping the geometry correct so I will take this all in, that's my winter project! Anyone done the 650 Savage shocks (pics?) and how does it change the ride?

Personally mine is quite 'loose' (not sure if that's just the bike) and a little twitchy, gonna try rubber first, then hit the suspension. I'm 5'11" and 190 so it does sit a bit when I'm on it, but there's room.

Thanks again for the feedback! Cheers.

Hey Strat- thanks, I like the look, any clearance issues or bottoming out? I see you added the front springs, did you adjust the fork height at all? Thanks again.

i have yet to bottom out (keep in mind that i rarely ride with a passenger though).

i only recently did the front fork springs and shortly after dropped the forks through the triples about an inch. rides great and handles well.

She's a beauty! I am about to get one, except she is blue. I plan on modding her a bit (modding, is that a word?). I am going for the street fighter look though. Fazer front wheel and SECA Turbo air shocks. Probably going to lower the front forks up into the triple clamps.

    Deeman,

From a fellow Maxim X owner... Looking great my man! I'm interested in that fender cowl that you made to cover the flat spot and bracket on the rear fender. Did that start out life as a front fender, or some other entity, or did you manufacture it yourself? I am trying to find something like that for my bike...
