    Hello All,

Just got my '83 750 Seca. I'm starting a dirt-cheap bobber build. I'm hoping to spend no more money than absolutely necessary. I'm not a fabricator, mechanic, painter or bike builder. I work in TV. I just want to create something unique and ride the wheels off it. I have a lot of questions and I can't wait to get some input from you guys. I love what i see here.

    1st question

So I've got her stipped all down as far as I'm going to.

Will the Maxim 750 gauges work on this Seca? I am removing the Apple 2 computer that used to rest upon the bars. And if so, anyone have any for sale. Also, does anyone have a round headlight I can buy off of them?

I'm selling the parts that came off the bike:
    -seat in immaculate condition
-both mufflers in really good condition
-everything off the rear end (fenders, plastics, etc.)
    -both square headlights
    -windshield in great condition
    -gauge cluster
    -center stand
-rear shocks, if I can find some shorter ones.
-possible gas tank trade for maxim style. My tank is immaculate.

    Possibly more... keep you posted.

You'll want the center stand. It's how you check your oil.

That's a pretty nice bike to start out with. Good luck with your build.

wow, this might be one of the few bikes I wouldnt bob and chop. its in way to nice of shape to do that to it. and Im a bob/chop everything kind of guy. but that bike you could get running and sell it for enough to buy 2 or 3 of these in choppable shape.

I wasn't going to be the first to say that. Since I chopped up one in OK shape.

Chop/build what you got. Unless it's the last remaining example. Then sell it for $$$ and chop something else.

it really wasn't in that great of shape. Front brakes are crap, had been laid down, needed turn signal. On the plus side, it ran pretty well. If you'll notice, I've already chopped the @$$ end off. Oh well, too far to go back now.

there is a chit ton of wiring to get rid of, I removed about 80% of my wiring.

but your bike is weird, it looks like a seca 900 engine, if someone painted the engine like that to match, they did a damn good job, and that paint job on there is nice, almost matches the 900 seca, but different body work, it'd be nice if you have the right side cover, you could sell the set for good money.

thanks for the good words man. thats my very first build. I kinda went into it blindly with no idea or direction. But for under $1000 bux total, it was about the most fun I have ever had!

for the original poster: If you really want to ride the wheels off it, don't install pods or cut up the exhaust system.

If you want to spend a lot of time and $$$ then go ahead and hack up the airbox and exhaust.

Then we'll see you back here when you discover the bike won't do 80...

If you really wanted to do it without dropping a lot of cash, you should have just "recommissioned" it.

You're still going to need to do the brakes, fix the carbs, probably tires, etc. Cutting into it just upped your budget IF you really want to ride...

Yeah but I really wanted to do a bobber. And the airbox has been hacked already, too late.

It's a 750 alright. Somebody gave it a pretty good paint job. I'm going to paint it black: tank, header, fender, homemade side covers. Flat, black!

Hey, you're pretty nearby. I'm up in NWA.

Nice looking project you have there! Let me know if you decide to sell your seat.

How much would shipping be to 66216 for the pipes, manifold, etc? Depending on that, 50 might be fair.

Just bought my 750 seca and it has a 4 into 1 with a weird DIY resonator muffler that's falling apart. For $400 I can't complain.

I'm keeping the headers. I've already blacked-them. I'm just selling the mufflers.

    Update

I've flat-blacked the tank and fender, I've recoated the exhaust w/ black high-temp, and i'm in the process of blacking the drag bars. I'll post pictures soon on my seca build thread. Also, I've been away from the computer for a few days so I'll get everyone a better idea for parts prices on my parts thread.

I need a round headlight!!!??? I also need lowering shocks for the rear!!!???
