help identifying new acquisition

Good Day all,
Im a new member, and seek your enlightenment and guidance....
I have acquired a Canadian model [at least I assume it is] 1981 XJ1100 Midnight Special, serial numbers [both match] 4H4-000244. It had gold trimmings [grabrail, carb tops etc] but these have all been replaced with chromed items.
It is in need of some parts, but is in excellent condition, with only 5000 kilometres on the clock.

My question is, can anyone confirm the details for me...is it what I think it is????

It has been rumored they did make a XJ1100 midnight. Gold trim with black engine, exhaust and feders. Wheels should be gold with gold brake rotors.
Post a pic so we can see. I have never seen one

 

This is the bike. As you can see it needs some work, but it cost me all of $1 CAD. Thats right, $1 freakin' Canuckbuck, so I can afford to spend some $ on it. Getting an OEM wxhaust system is going to be the big expense.
Pic attached. As mentioned, it has had most of the gold pieces removed for some reaons, but the wheels are original and everything is in great shape. Biggest problem is the cojones dents in the top of the tank where the previous owner did an emergency stop apparently.
Any help would be appreciated.

Quick bit of googling says that's an XS1100LG, not an XJ. Found that tidbit here.

No link to pics. I have been doing some looking and can't find any evidence that a XJ1100 midnight was made. Most likley you have a XS1100 mignight special. Either way 1$ is a steal, I would not pass it up no matter how the condition.

 

Very cool machine, although I think you paid a little too much for it. Kidding aside, with around 3100 miles on it she's not even broken in!

 

The GOLD on Midnights ... was some form of Plating that didn't age well.
On Bikes that spent a lot of time with the Gold exposed to the elements ... the Gold FLAKED, cracked and deteriorated and became rel ugly.

I had to strip the Gold off from the Aluminum Parts of my Max.
It took HOURS of Labor.
I used a High-speed Pneumatic Sander with 220 or 380 and sanded it off.
It resisted being removed.

Eventually, it came off and I was able to refinish the Alloy beneath the Plating or laminate.

 

Noted, its an XS1100 Midnight Special. Pity is too much of the gear has been replated chrome and changed the whole look of the bike. I am scouring the bike wreckers looking for gold parts but as noted, once exposed to the elements, it deteriorates badly. It certainly didnt age well.........
Now I just need to find an exhaust system. I was told a website called Babbits has a feature for matching parts on various models. Does anyone know how?
