Here's the situation w/ my bobber: I ordered some Maxim gauges to replace the stock seca gauges. I was told it plugs right in. I checked and all the "main" stuff is there. Only problem is the main (flasher, high beam, neutral, oil) harness on my seca gauges is a female connector end and the same harness on my new maxim gauges is a male connector end. I'm going to swap them out but the wires are different colors. Will the wire positions correspond? That is, if I plug the ends together will the wires from the seca correspond to the wires from the maxim? If so, I should be able to label which color matched which color and wire them up like that right?

Do you have a manual available? The color codes are in the wiring schematic section. Just follow the bouncing ball for the years particular to your gauges and the 83 Seca and you should have minimal problems. I've mated the gauges off of an 82 750 Max onto my 81/82 Secas with no problems.

I have no manual as of yet. I wonder if anyone could email me a PDF of the wiring gauges for the 83 seca. I'm not sure what the other model/year is. I just know it's a maxim set.

Yes...??? I could do this for you. Post a pic of your gauges and we'll get them IDed.

I'll take some pictures. I think, perhaps, the best thing for me to do is simply find out what my stock wire colors are and eliminate everything I don't need. I really only want the basics. If I could figure out what colors corresponded, I could just hook up an aftermarket tiny speedo w/ the lights in it. That seca has all of those diagnostic things.

Oh and ps. Thanks a bundle!
