To put it simple, I need a new ignition switch, key and gas tank cap with matching key, I cant ever seem to find any on ebay, or shopping around, what do you recommend ? When i got the bike the key was lost so the last owner put a toggle switch where the key went and damaged the gas tank to where you have to use a screw driver to open it.

    Buy a NEW Ignition Switch.
    Buy a USED Gas Cap.

Take the two items into a LOCKSMITH.
Have the Locksmith change the Gas Cap Tumblers to match the Key of your NEW Ignition Switch.

here's what I did. When I got my bike, the helmet lock and gas cap didn't match the ignition. I didn't have a key for them, the useless locksmiths (two of them) were no help, I don't know why. So I bought a used gas cap(mine was screw-drivered) and took apart the lock cylinder in the gas cap and the helmet lock.

Once you have the lock cylinders out(which is a little tricky) it's child's play to remove any tumblers that stick out when you have your ignition key in them. I had to remove one from the gas cap and two from the helmet lock.

If you don't follow I do have pics of the process. Basically you shove your key in the keyhole, and anything that doesn't retract into the cylinder(not including the back one, which holds cylinder in place) they have to go. It makes your lock maybe 20% easier to pick, but it's still locked. (Not to many master-criminals stealing gas out of motorcycles)

This is all assuming you can get an ignition or whatever you need, I luckily have motorcycle scrapyards near me, but not everybody does.

Changing tumblers is no big deal to me, I rekeyed hundreds of locks when i worked at Lowes, my problem is , I don't even have a ignition cylinder there, just the 3 wires. and it looks like a beaver at the keyhole out of the gastank.

If you don't have any motorcycle wrecking yards nearby, ask Chacal about what you need -- HCP1546 for the ignition switch and HCP2904 for the gas cap.

you can get new ignition switches with 2 sets of keys from JC Whitney for like 20 bucks. Plus they are oem spec which means it will plug right into your factory wire harness.
