chacal has 'em. thought you were just going to let it ride...given the compression numbers that you were blowing.

Yeah, I'll still continue to ride, repair and replace. I'd like to retest the compression after getting the valves in spec and with a fully charged battery. Don't know if that'll help, but I got my fingers crossed.

My battery was very dry. Just refilled w distilled and recharged...Local bike shop quoted $1500 to $2000 to rebuild the engine, so I'll keep an eye open for a local parts bike or mill.

They're sure they can get parts for it?

Len (Chacal) does have the shims. He'd also know the availability of the rings and any other parts and gaskets you'd need.

I doubt a weak battery would change compression on #2 since we went #4, #3, #2, #1, and #2 again and it was low relative to the others.

I'd have to agree with iwin...it's tough to face the facts on the engine given the condition of the rest of the bike, but you'll find another before it's done. I'm keeping an eye out for you on CL, and when you find one, I'll help you drop it in.

The fact that we could get good consistent results on 1 and 4 means that the tool was working and the battery wasn't to blame. I was hoping just as much as you were that we were doing something wrong testing it.

I don't think the shims will help your compression, because you aren't *that* far out of spec...and...more importantly, I don't think you were out of spec on the cylinders that were low. But PM chacal for parts. He def has shims
