Hard to say without knowing more about the bike.

Looks to be in rough shape.
    Do a Compression Test.

    The Airbag has deployed.
Must have been in a collision recently.

Rick's right, need a lot more data and you need to do a compression test before you decide to buy an engine rebuild or not.

Looks like a "Midnite" what size, year? Mileage?

Even with the airbag deployed and depending on how much you enjoy recommissioning old bikes.....no more than $500...excluding the plu$es and minu$es for compression, mileage, title, etc.

Walk away, spend a little more and get a better bike. You are going to spend a bunch getting that thing to look decent and be safe. Usually if the outside is in rough shape then you can bet the po didnt take good care of the engine either ie oil changes, valve adj etc.... If you are wanting a project bike I would give him 2-300 tops, that is if the engine runs good and has good compression.

Ya I agree 200-300. If your desperate to get it 350 is a stretch. Otherwise, patience is a virtue. I paid 300 for mine and it was in pretty good shape. I have heard other stories of people getting one for less than 100.

No more than a couple hundred, from the pic it looks like it moved to the parking lot under its own power, (or maybe not and just rolled off the trailer)

Either way, subtract money for a tetanus shot for you and anybody else who comes within 50 ft of it

Looks like an 80/81 XS11 Midnight Special with a fair amount of rust on the forks, headlight ears, frame, headers & tank. Pick-up coil cover looks like it's been hit and has a piece missing. Might want to check the crankcase out on that side, could be more damage.

Looks like it's all there. You'd definitely need to check compression to be sure it's something workable. Second gear was subject on the XS11's but can be repaired, just wont know until you get it running...

If I was in the market for another one, I might go as high as $350. More if it was running.

At the $400 ~ 600 Dollar range ... If the Bike is D.O.A you'll likely recoup the outlay parting it out.

You need an assessment of what it needs.

Buying a Whole Bike to restore can be an adventure.
Knowing what you're getting into is paramount.

It might be a Cinderella and just need a Fairy God Restorer.
It might be a Witch cursed by the Devil and Nickel and Dime you to death!

Shame when they're left outdoors, I like the ads which read "has some nice patina". We're not talking about wood here.

That rusted piece on the upper fork is a former gold cylinder. Remove it; toss it.
There's a fork tube hiding inside.

Those Header Pipes are going too be a lot of work.

The Yamaha dealer in Leesburg had one on display - said he'd never sell it, but priced it at $10,000 (it sold in '83).

You could go $500 if it runs good. Watch out for "vintage" tires !!

An MNS xs1100 sold for over $4000 earlier this year...but it was to someone in England and it was in show room condition. good running and good tires with no major rust will go int the range of $400 to $1200.

I got two bikes that needed to have the top end rebuilt for one xj750(it ran great). If I didn't have my wife's xj750 to ride i would be having buyers remorse. I finally got my 78 xs1100 to fire up after working on it for 6 months and $350 more and still need tires. Check for the first/second gear problem. there is a fix but it involves turning the bike upside down or pulling the engine.

Rick, your posts range from the most insightful to some of the funniest words I have ever read.

That bike with a title is worth the $300 if you're willing to restore it or part it out. Many of us buy a parts bike for that much. If you're sying it runs (and runs well?!?), I don't know why it isn't in your garage right now.
