Well here is the pictures of my newly aquired air shocks that i got at the junk yard today off a 81 maxim 1100 fully dressed, sad to see it in that condition however i managed to salvage some parts for reuse, These air shocks that will go in my 550 so me and my girl can ride more comfortably, and a in better shape then my origanal master cylinder and caliper all for $20 , that makes me happy. The boots says KYB so iam guessing thats what they are :D

Only real reason i am adding the air shocks is because me and my girl are not all that small, we like to eat good lol. Notice the Yamaha Speakers LOL.

Looks like the boots are missing, good luck with those shocks. I picked up a set years ago, got them home and they were blown (oil dribbling out of the air line). I've yet to find anyone who will rebuild them.

I have a set of these shocks sitting in a box waiting to go on the bike. The only thing I am wondering is how I will route the air hose over the tire.

The shaft drive bikes have two different lower hole sizes, apparently on the 1100 also.
I'm running the Turbo 650 shocks on my Seca 900 with no ill effects.
Ten dollars is a deal on almost any XJ part that you need, let alone the working shocks !!

    Re: Air Shocks Test FIT

Ok i test fitted the shocks today, they fit fine, only issue is the boots touch the pipes and i am sure they will melt.

EXCELLENT! I saved the entire page on a OO presentation. Learned that my shocks are MISSING the boots! We'll see what I can cobble together.
    Thanks a bunch!

    Re: Air Shocks Test FIT

Not as much as you might think but yes. Easily solved: remove the mufflers and carefully bend the mounting tabs outward about ten degrees or so; when you remount them it should swing the muffler out about 3/8" or so and give you some clearance.

    But enough of that.

We need to discuss YOUR CHAIN. OMG.

Start a new thread "what's wrong here?" and post that picture of your drive chain and rear sprocket. Jeezus, dude. Seriously.

Oh, and did you find a spacer bushing for the oversized mounting hole? I have a whole drawer full of shock absorber mounting bushings, if it's flopping on a smaller diameter bolt PM me with ID and OD and I'll see what I have.

After we talk about that chain.
