Guess i'm ariding late on this but still up for something come spring.
I'm about 45 min west of philly, 25min south of allentown. got 14mm colortune and awaiting the 12mm adapter from eastwood. also have redneck synchtube yardstick jobby. Got plenty of level blacktop driveway. Could fit about 12 bikes w plenty of elbow room. I never did these carbs before but did xs650 a couple of times. Don't know if i need Yick stick or not for 85 xj700x.

    .....Yup......

hey beanflicker. You are more then welcome to use the colortune. PM me with your number and we'll talk. Still waiting on eastwood for the 12mm adapter unless you've got 14mm then you're set. they were outta stock when i ordred and said it would be in by the 19th of this month so we'll see when i get it.

You shoulda asaid that it was the wrong threads on the other post you made.

I would have suggested sending the wrong colortune back and reordering the right one.

I dont like having to cobble stuff up like that, usually doesnt work as good for me.

Ya I heard about that but I already had this for my 82 XS650 which has 14mm plugs so.... 15 bucks to see how it works with 12mm adapter. If it's not so good then maybe i could use someone elses(hint hint) Do I have any other takers on some carb clinic action come spring maybe someone with a 12mm colortune. Heck I'll roll to you. doen't make much nevermind to me. I love talking readneck

I'm definitely in. I've tried for ages to get something going. I would be happy to host a clinic or ride. Lets chat when it starts to warm up a bit.

Hey Greg we'll talk when it gets warmer and see if beanflicker is still down to.
Fongdingo you're nuts unless someones got a toasty garrage.
Spilled water near my tools yesterday and went to pick them up not even 5min later and they where frozen to the asphalt. Also I haven't got the 12mm adaptor for my colortune yet. Unless Greg has one.

what do you mean "do one now, so we can ride when it warms up" ? I'm still riding now. Wanted to pull my carbs this winter and clean them, but that would mean I would have to park it :( I dont think so, I just put heated grips on my xj550 & I wannt get good use out of them.

But, I can handle a carb clinic in spring

I was riding up until a few weeks ago, but I finally gave up. I have a good garage and set of tools, but no heat. I'm stuck here in Dallas till the middle of February anyway. I am seriously looking forward to a get together though.

Well guys, it's getting close to spring time. Carb clinic, color tune, or what. My color tune sorta melted on me one day but it still works. Just hard to believe that my engine got hot enough to melt glass.

I'm in Cherry Hill (15 minutes from Philly). Once I have my bike back together (replacing 2nd gear) I would be interested in coming to one of these. PM me.

do we have someone around this area that has enough space and more knowlege then i . i have done carbs on xs650, xj700x, xj550, and xj650. I may have cleaned them but it doesn't mean i've done it right. heheh. i've got home made carb tuner seemed to work well on my xs659 but that only has 2 carbs. Also for those with YICS system i have no YICS stick. that seems to block off the YICS system for proper carb tunning.

Anybody want to try and do something Saturday the 23rd? I know its Memorial Day weekend but I dont have any plans yet and thought I'd throw it out there. I'm having some issues and the gurus here think a proper sync might help but I don't have the tools. I could truck the bike to meet up somewhere.

just thought i should add that this is dependent on whether or not i can get the bike to run and idle enough to do a sync. ive got an ok sized garage and a decent industrial fan that would probably do the trick to keep the bike from overheating also. no XJ specific tools however.

    hey tito,

not necessarily too late but the garage is jammed up cause my brother brought home a shovelhead and I picked up a new Triumph. hes been working on both the shovelhead and his sportster so the place is a mess. and since i picked up the Triumph I'm now trying to sell the Seca so havent been working on it much. I have to put the carbs back in and charge the battery and I'm hoping it will run. This weekend and the next are booked for me but maybe if I still have it we could work something out. Or maybe just get a little ride together with some others. That is, if the XJ's dont mind a Scrambler tagging along.
    take it easy
