I was looking through the Posts.
Things that come to mind looking at the past year.

"Wiz" should be featured in one of the Magazines.
I have filled-out the "Idea's" sections of a bunch of Magazines.
They are going to have to hear from others, too.
"Project 900" is astonishing. They wouldn't have much to do writing the piece.
    Copy and paste.

Just when you thought you were the guy who got the most ridiculously, insane, unbelievable deal on a motorcycle, that has ever been made, on Earth and any other existing, life-supporting Planet in the known Cosmos, ... you read the Post of a guy who did one better.

    Look what I found?
Looking at just last year, ...
That could be another whole 'nuther article.

OK, here's one. Not a whole bike in this case, but one heck of a strike nonetheless.

My personal OMG deal of 2010: A brand new, complete Mikuni BS28 off eBay for $24.99. I was the only bidder, you guys musta been sleeping.

here is a deal i ran across in 09 craigslist was the owners grandfathers he passed some time ago but before he did he pulled the gas lines and drained the float bowls. when they inherited the bike they had no idea they hooked up the fuel lines put gas in it pushed it up and down the street wouldnt start. they never put a battery in it . i got the bike put a battery in it. mud dobbers made a nest in 1 of the fuel filters so replaced them. I figured what the heck put gas in it turned over about 3 times fired up ran perfect. Tank looked like brand new inside bike had 3600 miles was a 72 cl 350 honda kept it for a year to put around with then got an offer i couldnt pass up on it. I paid $ 150 for it

If it's in anything more than about 80% good shape, it was!

The carb was the biggie. I now also have a complete spare set of relays (including the turn signal canceling unit) for the 550s, ALL NOS, and didn't pay more than $5 for any of them.

That Honda is/was gorgeous. I couldn't have parted with it.

I have a uniform so can I play even though I'm new here?

I found a 1970 H1 about 200 miles from my home on CL. It was one of the rarest H1's or H2's in that it was a '70 but was painted the Charcol grey color that Kaw switched to Red after only a couple of months making it pretty rare. The guy had taken it apart, freeing up frozen pistons but other then that, the rest of the bike was a 7.5 out of 10 condition wise.

I really didn't have a lot of extra cash at the time as I had already bought a boat earlier in the summer and had used most of my "mad money" to pay for it. I did have however, my sons college tuition fund that just happened to have a grand in it which is exactly what the guy was looking for.

Being July, I reasoned that I'd buy the bike, then switch the top end with a '70 H1 parts bike that I had in my basement storage room then sell it before tuition was due in August. I called the guy, made the deal and drove down. The total investment was 1280 including gas and tolls.

Long story short, I bought the bike, brought it back, rebuilt the top end and I also replaced the stuck clutch plates with the one from my parts bike which was still within specs and posted it on Ebay with a reserve of $2,400 figuring that if I doubled my money, I'd be happy. It hit reserve the next day.

A week later I sold the bike for $6,500.00. The deal went through no fuss no muss and I was paid in four days.

My sons tuition money was repaid and he got to stay is school<lol> and I banked the rest. Sweetest deal of 2010!!

Who loves Craigslist? I DO!!! I found a guy that was trading a mint '81 xj650, 15k miles, for a secondary vehicle. I immediately called for an address. The guy had become ill and could no longer enjoy the ride. He was having troubles with his primary vehicle and wanted a backup ride. I offered him my '98 Ranger with 209,000 miles. The inspection was out and need both leafspring mounts replaced to pass. I did crawl under the vehicle with him and showed him what needed fixed. He said he had a guy and we made the deal! It cost me maybe $110 for tax, tittle, plates, and insurance! The best part is the truck was givin to me from my sister! Check out the pics in my gallery. Thins thing is emaculate. I am planning to go with an all black color scheme and a soft tail bobber look.

Yeah well space is at a premium now but since I had all the parts to make it whole, it was an amazing deal. I have two H2's now and one(purple 75) has doubled in value of what I paid for it in a short period of time. The other will never be really valuable since I have begun to take the engine to a 120HP version. The RD really hasn't appreciated very much, mine is a stock '74 and neither have my GT's but the Kaws have touched the sky with their prices.

I know that most folks can't afford to spend thousands on a bike to wait for it to go up in value which is why I don't recommend to people that they use bikes as an investment. I got mine to ride but....if you get the right bike....at the right time.....in the right condition....for the right price...you can do pretty well. I sold mine to a gentleman in Italy where they cannot get them.

The neighbor lady has a Kawasaki 454 (1989) belt drive that has 1,700 miles. Appears showroom new except a dime-size rip in the back seat.
Even the clearcoat hasn't yellowed. Needs a turn signal stalk rubber bit.
(It's black, but looks like this)

Asking - $900. I'm thinking about making an offer, but I simply don't fit on the bike. I would only buy to re-sell in March. (it's tagged and running)

Saw a CL ad for a 1974 Honda cb125s. Called the guy, checked it out and brought it home. Overall condition is something like 3 out of 10 with 6100 miles. Sat for many years on the side of his house. It's a major project, but hey, for $80 I think I can manage. :)
