    Has anyone done a mod to the xj550 triple backbone section of the frame?

    I have. I turned mine into a rigid. Extended center tube all the way past seat mount and cut the two smaller outside ones off right past coil mount. Tied the two to the center tube with a piece of flat bar. Was able to fit a peanut tank on it then.
