Anyone got any suggestions for replacing the head gasket and the little oil seals? I am hoping to get my motorcycle burning up for Monday and jacked up the gasket. THoughts?

Are you talking about the head gasket between the head and the cylinders, or the rubber gasket and rubber seals on the valve cover?

Both really. The engine has a whole 16000 or so miles, but this is the first time the gaskets have even been replaced. I was thinking about some high temperature RTV but the original head gasket is thicker.

you can not use gasket maker in place of a head gasket or even for a leaky head gasket it just does not work that way

Would an OEM be better than using a sheet of gasket and cutting it out?

You cant make a head gasket, valve cover gasket is ok to make as long as it isn't the rubber type.

You CAN make a head gasket, you need a sheet of DEAD SOFT copper the exact thickness of the compressed gasket and some way of cutting all the holes. Turbo car guys (Ricers) do it. Could be hard to find on Sunday.

if you were able to make a head gasket (most people are not machinist) you better make sure its the right thickness and the holes are exact or it will mess up your squish area. The material would be a lot more expensive then a head gasket

I think you should not try to make your own Head Gasket and Cam Cover Gasket.

Chiefly, because I doubt you will meet with success not matter how much care you take to try to get them both made correctly.

Shop online and you'll find what you need.
