Well, this piece of junk got picked up by a towing company, then sold to someone who left it in the back of a rusty truck for many years.

    It's my 4th bike. Previously I have had a 1996 CBR600 and a 1994 CBR900. I have a 1992 GSX1100 now.

It has no instruments, cracked battery, smashed fuse box, missing frame components, broken levers, torn seat, hotwired switches, cracking tires, rusty frame, spongy brakes, etc. etc. The list goes on.

It's my baby though :D I picked it up for $350 + $20 for shipping. I found a new battery for $30 and a pair of new ignition coils for $30 as well. Those should get her fired up at least. I'll worry about the 'details' later.

    Uhhhhhh David,

I think you are going to need to replace the seat! Dude, that things a mess!!!! You have a little work ahead of you getting this thing to a safe running condition but with the expertise on this site and our local parts guy (chacal, xjforever.com) you should be able to get her up and running.

Good luck to you and welcome to the forum,

    Loren

    WOW.... (O),(O)

You must have really wanted a winter project. From seeing the picture the first thing that pops into my mind is donor bike, but if you have the time and dedication you can put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

You'll find everything you need for it here, ebay, and craigslist, good hunting my friend and welcome to the fourm.

    Missing frame components??
I bought a complete wire harness off E-bay for $25 when I faced my wire challenge.

First step is to check compression, adjust valves, run motor before spending any "real" money.

Then, the money priority goes to rebuilding the brakes and new tires, front forks and carb overhaul. That's before making it pretty.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I washed it up a bit, did a few minor repairs/rebuilds, and removed all of the wiring not necessary to run. New ignition coils and battery should be arriving in 3-4 days. I'll post an update then.

    wow.. brave man!
at least you can say that it's "built, not bought" when you get it finished, and also build it exactly how you want it to look, mod wise!
    Good luck!
