Hey, I am in the process of putting my XJ1100 back together again (slightly modified). I am in need of new gauges.

Anyone know if the tachs and spedos from mikes xs will work with the xj1100? Apperently you are not suppose to ask there since you get the "its not an xs, we have no idea if it will fit" answer.

I read somewhere that the mini speedos they have will accept the factory speedo cable. Will the speedo read correct? I don't really care if it is in miles or kms( I am in canada), but I am looking at the one that has the neutral, turn, and hi-beam indicators.

Also wondering on the tach from the same place. Anyone know if they will jive with the xj's stock wiring harness?

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

Here is a link to the xs11 sight where I have pictures of my bike posted.

I like what you have done to the bike, very nice work. It looks to be a hybrid XJ/XS1100.
While I can't say for sure if the mikes xs speedo will work, all of the XS/XJ speedo drives Yamaha make have the same gear ratio. It should work. I have seen them on other XJ projects and don't see why it won't work. Searh the forums here, there are several who have removed their stock gauges and tack to replace them with aftermarket ones.

I finished looking through all the pick and I'm speechless, excelent workmanship and attention to detail. In the last pic the driveshaft boot is missing, any plane to replace it. I just got a XJ1100 and the boot was missing, the driveshaft tunnel was full of road crap and rubbing the driveshaft.

You should be able to mate anything you want on there. I've got a spare set of XS750 gauges floating around if you want to take a shot at it.

Thanks for the comments! It's been a huge learning curve for me (and still is). Sounds like the speedo will work, I just have to watch which tach I get. I will need the one with three wires not two.

    THanks guys!

Steve is your goal to get rid of the Maxim computer. If so then the XS gauges should be a good set up for what you are tring to do. Keep those pics coming. Nice work!!

I may have some extra XS11 speedos and tacks Steve, let me know and I'll see what I have.

Yeah I will have to get a new boot at some point, the old one is toast.

I was hoping to end up with something a little different, which is why I want to go with the aftermarket gauges. I think that one big white faced tach in the center would look awesome (4" or so, not sure what sizes they come in). Still not even sure if I want a speedo on the bike, but if I do, it will be a small one.

Currently working on an airpod set up for the bike using p traps. I forsee the need to buy jets in my near future. Anyone know of a good source for jets? Also what size should I start with, everything was factory settings when I rebuilt them. The exhaust is a 4-1 and the intake will be pods. Do I need to shim the needle at all? Change the pilot and main, or just the main??

I'll have lots of carb questions since these are the first ones I've messed with.

Go to XS11.com Steve, you'll find several articles on pod filters and jetting requirements. My experences with them, well I'll just say I can get it running better using the stock airbox. I also don't have to worry about sucking in rainwater and stalling the engine. My opinion its not worth a minum HP gain, sucky gas mileage and poor throttle response. Mikuni CV carbs don't like unlimited airflow.
If you need Jets PM Chacal, he is our parts guru, good prices and fast shipping. You'll have to but several sizes of jets and experment to get it right. You'll probably end up with one size larger pilot and 3 to 5 times larger mains.

I used the photobucket IMG links recently... Copy. paste... Worked when the ones here didn't.

Love the work on the rebuild... Looks great
