    Hey ya'll,
The clutch kill wire housing is broken so I pulled the wire. What should I do with it now? Solder the two wires together or leave them apart? I don’t need the clutch kill thing to work anymore. I just want the wire out of the way and not causing any further problems.
    thanks

The switch is not supposed to be removed as it is a safety feature.... but if you must, you'll have to connect the wires to show the clutch is pulled in.
Then the circuit shoul be made up to alow the starter to start

If you leave them open, you will only be able to start the bike in neutral. If you close the circuit the bike will think the clutch is pulled at all times, and if you hit the start button while its in gear, the bike will jump! My clutch switch is gone, so i left the wires open. I have to start it in neutral, but better than the bike jumping off the stand.

Sounds good. I usually start it in neutral all the time anyway so I'll just leave it open.
    Thanks

My mother, rest her soul, used to give me those valuable little lessons, that only years of experience proved it to be the right way to deal with a situation, when it arose, and I asked her what to do ... by prefacing her remarks like this: "Richard, you mark my words!"

Good advice always followed Evelyn's "Mark my words" intro.

    pbr ... "Mark my words"

Get a used switch and keep that clutch lever safety feature working right.
You'll thank me and my mom when you're at the light and you stall it with some impatient clown in his personal Scenic-Cruiser wants you to get moving so he can get his rotating wheel covers back up-to-speed!

Pulling the lever and hitting the start button is going to be alot easier than finding Neutral with a loud horn blaring while some jerk curses-out you and your bike.

Not to mention ... it's for your own good and safety!

I crossed mine when it broke. I soldered it together in the headlight housing and shrink wrapped it. It has worked flawlessly but they are right. I have had a couple of times when I jump on it and pushed the start button (which has a tendancy to stick) and the bike lurches foward resulting in an almost drop or in my case, running into something.

Sounds good guys. Thanks for the tips and motherly advice. You can't get enough of that around here. I'll be at the junk yard on Saturday so I'll see what they've got.
    Take it easy.

Whatz a matter PBR, hot glue didn't hold??? A new switch isn't that hard to come by (hit the XS site, they've got 'em for about $6. Don't worry, it'll work on your 550). I've got a few spares around here somewhere. Are you going to the yard in Hollywood by chance? Drop by if you strike out at the yard.

Yhea, the hot glue wasn't happening after the rain came. What's the XS site?

Hey Robert, That's an awesome site. I just kept scrolling down thinking "I could use that.. I could use that." Right now I'm looking for an oil filter cover for my 550 and I heard that only a cover for a 550 will work. . .

Being I don't have your piece sitting here to compare to my spare, I couldn't say but you are welcome to drop by. Thought you scored one from that yard in Hollywood, sounds like you struck out. Another thought, if your setting up an order with the XS folks, if they have a minimum, hook me up with another switch and I'll boogie down to your place and pay for cost and shipping.
