:D Here's a deal ..I was cleaning out my starter, and not knowing how long a new set of brushes would be, I ordered a pair, and find out my old brushes are about 4/5 wear. So I put in the new brushes anyway. Now, I could squirrel the old ones away, put them where I would never forget them, or, if you need a pair, let me know and I'll mail them to you!

    I changed mine last weekend.
I cut the old wires to the old brushes.
I used a drimmel to clean off the old wire
from were the new brush wires would go.
Soldered on the new brush wires.
And cleaned it up when apart.
Had black greasy oil in the brush
    area ofthe starter.
    Probably not good.

real easy to change. snap out (lift retainer clip) a soldering iron to remove old brush contact. Slip in the new ones, solder contact .. reassamble starter and presto! it works .... now who wants the old brushes.

Service man also gave me a long story about how much better the old starter motors were. Guess the newer style ones are crap, always over heating. Older is better .... just ask your Dad!

killer_chicken gets the brushes ... I guess the wording wasn't the best. The brushes are only worn 1/5. .... Cheers. Keep'em running
