I just found this... I actually live about 25 minutes NW of the Burgh. I'm in Rochester, right by the Beaver Valley Mall. I'm deff interested in meetindg up with some fellow XJ enthusiasts for a ride when the weather breaks. Hit me up...

Just stumbled across your post, Eddie, after breaking for the night on the tank. I think I have this sucker licked. did a bit of finessing with a body hammer and plastic dent punch and got a good bit of the metal evened out. with all the work I did from within the filler tank, on the inside, I think I better take it somewhere to remove the liner and re-line it. I have to imagine it's gotta be chewed up on the other side of that dent. Hardest part is trying to undo the creases right at the leading edge of the knee indents. One things for sure, she's definitely gonna need a re-fin! hehe.

 

Hey Guys, I live 20 mins North, off of 28. Trying to find someone to rebuild the front calipers, and some other half assed fixes the previos owner did. Let me know of any local rides.

Good to see some locals! I'm in Greensburg. Does anyone have some skill with cleaning/polishing they'd be willing to swap for some six-packs? I have big ideas for getting my 550 Maxim cleaned up, but aside from buying degreaser, I'm short on ideas/tools/workspace. Feel free to PM me.

I know it's a while off yet, but are any of you guys planning on making the trip to Thunder in the Valley this year? I'm going to try my hardest to get there; it'll be my first rally. Maybe we can all meet up for a tasty beverage.

 

Hey Red, I'm about an hour and a half NW of you but I would love to ride over there. Thunder in the Valley is one of the few rallies, in the area, that I have not been to.

I presume you have been since it is so close to home for you. Would any particular day be better?

 

Prince- Nah, I've never been. I hadn't figured on a specific day, since my schedule doesn't allow me to plan for next week, let alone something as far away as June. I'll have to wait until it's much, much closer before I will even know if I'll for sure be able to make it. We could meet up before June. Get some of the other guys together and meet.

 

I understand. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I think I'm gonna go ahead and put in for the few days off. I don't plan to go every day but I can always cancel days off. Let me know what you plan to do when the time comes.

I'm always down to ride. We definitely need to plan a ride.

 

That's my MIL's birthday weekend. So I maybe able to make the trip up and bring the bike. My BIL has been a couple times I think. Atleast he's got tshirts.

 

Awesome! Let's definitely get a ride together this spring/summer. I'm still pretty new to riding, so it'll be fun to see SW PA on a bike.

 

Would anyone be interested in helping me clean up some of my not-so-shiny parts? What I mean is- anyone willing to do most of the cleaning/shining for some yet-to-be-determined compensation? I'd like to learn how, but I don't have the tools, space or know-how to do much of anything on my own.
And separately- Where do you guys get your tires from? I'm interested in some Dunlop D404s and I'm in the pricing stage.

 

I just bought some new tires for my wife's xj550 maxim from bikebandit.com From what I can find, they seem to have the best prices and flat rate shipping is less than $9.

I decided to jump on here because we're currently living in Middlesex township just south of Butler. It's pretty cool to see how many people around here have these bikes.
