So, rolled an 82 xj1100 into the shop that I got on trade for a guy looking for a guitar. Plain Jane, rusty, weathered example of a beat on XJ.

Started stripping her down to see what I was working with and as I stood back looking at her in all of her naked glory one day, she started to look a little differrent to me.

What would it look like if...?

    And, what about...?

    Or maybe...?

So the juices are flowing. So far, new 15 1/4" shocks to jack the back end up, complete 2002 r6 subframe and plastics, 79 xs1100g standard tank, xs1100 triple trees, new handlebars, new, lowered headlight ears, 4 into 1 exhaust...

Lots of molding, custom fiberglassing and welding to come. Keep watching to see how she comes along.

I can't quite grasp your ideas for the finished bike. You have sparked my interest and I will keep looking for progress and more pics.

What is going to happen to the leftover parts? I could use some of them.

I like the way this is going! Looks similar to the direction that I am headed with my 82 XJ1100. I'll be following this one; I am curious to see how it will come together. Here are a couple of shots of my bike so far.

    Here ya go.

You need to add "/" just before "Img" in your second tag for each image.

~EDIT~ I had to go back to your photobucket album and start from scratch

Anyone have a spare set of shock mount bushings and sleeves lying around? Looking for a set for the new shocks.

Don't forget the "Type R" sticker. Ten extra horsepower at the rear wheel... :p

    That only works on Honda's

    P.S.

    What shocks are you using?
I'm going with a set ment for a 74-78 Sportster. They measure 14.5" and should be just a little bit stiffer.
I'm just not too crazy about all the chrome on them.

Are they going to be "beefy" enough to support the back of your bike?
I looked at the ad and it says they are made for 50-100 go cart front suspension.
The top spring retainer looks like a washer made out of thin pressed steel. Did you contact the manufacturer about weight specs before buying?
They do look great, but I'd hate to hear the results of them collapsing during a ride.
    Good luck!
