    I live a long way away from this city but my job has connected me to it and I've spent the last 4 days living this quake and the recovery.

    There are a number of stories of survival and loss, gratitude and suffering, but the thing that stands out the most is the response from people from outside the area, outside the country and around the world.... Outstanding support and empathy coming from everywhere...

    I was outside the four avenues when it hit, interesting experience watching a tilt slab building swaying and the cars on the road bouncing up and down

    You could tell straight away it was going to be worse than the 7.1 in Sept, it was a lot more violent and being at the end of lunchtime a lot worse time of day

    I'm lucky in that all the friends I have are all accounted for

    We shut down work for the week, first day back tomorrow
