First off, I must admit, I do love Craigslist! I look over it everyday. I wouldn't have my bike if not for the site.

Over this past winter, it seems that Pittsburgh's craigslist has been nearly over run by Harley postings! This leads me to believe one of two things must have happened. 1) Harley owners can no longer afford their rides. OR 2) Harley's craftsmanship has taken a turn for the worse. Since Harley has been in the game since the beginning, I find it hard to believe the later scenario!

Perhaps I am only humoring myself with this rant but I find the situation to be quite comical. Don't get me wrong. I was raised by Harley riders, my father rides custom '54 Panhead and mother rest her hind quarters on a '72 Sportster. I do intend to own one, someday.

Anyway, back to the funny part. The following link should at least put a smile on your face, at least give you reason to love your XJ a little more! I've seen bikes in fair, running, condition sell for less!

You gotta read it too, the reasoning is half the humor! ENJOY, HAHA!!!

Ain't it the truth. Not only are most of the take off parts way over priced, but some must think they're gold plated!!
There must have been a sale on Sporsters last year, because there's tons of them for sale on Craigslist now too. Alot of re-peat postings too, so it doesn't look like they're selling too good.

Don't hate Harleys here. I just think the over priced parts (and bikes) are kinda rediculous that's all. Ride what you like, like what you ride.

There ya go! My point exactly. Even my buddies who ride them Harleys complain about the HD standing for Hundred Dollars, because it what they spend everytime they enter the dealer. Go figure.
And another thing that I find interesting, is the same part, made by the same company (same identical part) made for a metric bike, cost more because it has "HD" stamped on it? What's up wit dat?

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
there was a HUGE promotion two years ago concerning sportsters:

buy ANY sportster (2009?) and with in a year you can trade it in for FULL PURCHASE PRICE on any Big-Twin. yes thats 0% depreciation..

the question to be asked is how many of the new harley owners found that they really dont like riding (or riding Harleys), cant afford to pay the difference in price between a sporty a B-T or just cant afford to make the payments at the 17% apr that the dealers collect...

id love to have a dyna or just about any of the CVO bikes but for the mean time ill just ride my 900R or 750R (or my kawi)...

Daplumma, buddy, you've got me all wrong. I love the Harleys man. I'm down with anything that gets by on two wheels. I've got a harley seat on my XJ!!! None of that means I can't laugh at the situation. Hell, I'd probably be hysterical if XJ posting shot up!

There's quite a few Yamaha dealers that will sock it to ya in the ole proverbial gearbox too. Thats why we all appreciate XJ4ever. I own a Harley and a Yamaha. I do and have enjoyed H-D's and metric bikes for many years. In my opinion....All motorcycle parts are expensive. But I've always heard " If ya wanna play......Ya gotta pay" I consider my "playin" well worth the money. Just my $.02 worth.
