I have a 1982 xj750 maxim, I thought the battery was dead. So I brought it in and had it recharged. Went to put it back in my bike and still had no power, ok so my next move was check the fuses... They were all good. Now I am at a dead end I checked all the wiring and that is all connected (i am an industrial electronics tech) I was thinking do these bikes have alternators or why would i still not have any power when i turn the key on?

If you still have the OEM fuse panel it could be your problem. The fuses can be good but the fuse holders could be bad. I would check power on both sides of the fuses.

HL is right, you know as a elect. tech that you need to get out the meter and test for power across the pretend fusebox after first seeing that the battery still has a full charge. Any corrosion and you won't get a completed circuit. Maybe pulling them all, clean and reinstall wouldn't be a bad idea until you get a chance to change it out. I found a panel from a 96 Kaw with 7 fuse positions for $4.97+2.50 shipping on fleabay.

    Simple questions:

    In nuetral?
    Kick stand up?
Kill switch back in ON position?

Check starter switch with your tester also.
