I'm looking to rebuild the carbs, replace the MC & brake lines, and rebuild the front caliper on my 81 Seca. I have the parts, YICS tool, Manometer, and manual and I've been reading up the how-to posts but I'd like some direction the first time around if anyone's available.

Where are you OldSchool? How many miles on your bike? Generally, you want to be sure that the valves are properly set before rebuilding the carbs but you may already have them done.

I've read where one or two guys have hosted clinics around Balt. Dont remember who but I'm sure they will post up now that you've asked and if you guys want me to host, I've got a garage attached to the house in case it rains. Actually, I do all my engine work in the garage or my bsmt shop....I don't like dirt, leaves, cr*p getting into my engines.

I'm in Towson. Iwingameover had one last October but I had dislocated my thumb so I couldn't do any work on it. Haven't done anything on her myself yet, I just got the bike last year from my bro. I'm a total novice but I'd like to learn how to service the bike myself. I have a little shed out back of my house that I can use to do the work if necessary or I can drive somewhere. What do I need to do the valves?

A valve shim tool, feeler gauges, and usually a new gasket and rubber donuts for when you put the head cover back on. Once you measure your clearances, you can order the appropriate sized shims to replace the old ones with. There is a good write-up by Bigfitz about how to do it. Here's the link, about to do this myself when my tool comes in.

    Cool deal. Thanks!

I'll get the order into Len. He was really quick on the last one.

Parts came in yesterday. Iwingameover is going to stop out and give me a hand on Monday. Can't wait to get riding again.
