Been over so many threads, its provided great info on my project but was wondering what should I do to clean the tank before I fill it with gas once I done painting it. There has been some water from sanding it that has gotten into the tank and some rust has started to show.

Just rinse it out with rubbing alcohol and the rest of it will just evaporate. Keep the tank full, so it doesn't rust when it's not being used.

And if you haven't already, put an inline filter in the gas line if there is some rust in the tank. It will surely show up in your carbs eventually.
