    Hello guys,

I've been off for I while, but made some progress on the bike (see below).
I've adjusted the valves and they are all in spec right now.
I've cleaned (ultra sonic) the carbs.
I've installed K&N air filters (is that what you call "Pods"?).

Now I assembled everything and the bike fired up in a instant (with choke), but here comes the problem: only 2 of the 4 pipes will turn hot after a minute or two idling on choke, but when I touch the throttle, the bike kills.

I've found out that carb number 3 won't get any fuel (float chamber is empty when I unscrewed the drain screw). Number 4 does get fuel in the float chamber, but pipe will stay cold.

#1 What could be the cause that the engine kills when I touch the throttle?

#2 What does the Pilot screw (number 12, see picture) do? Is that the screw for my air/fuel mixture??

#3 Should I unscrew the Pilot screw 2,5 times as the manual says? Or should it be more of less because of the pods??

I guess my very first step will be to clean the carbs AGAIN and see if I encounter any problems, in meantime I hope you can help me with my other questions!

This forum has been of great help so far, hope you can help me even further :)

    Greetings from Holland!

yes to #2, set them at default to start with (not sure for your bike, maybe 2 3/4 turns out from lightly bottomed).
If you are not getting fuel into the float bowl/s either the needle valve is stuck, or you have a blockage. This should have flagged when you did the clear tube fuel level checks.

Apart from the blocked fuel feed, lean mixture may be the problem. Set the pilot screws as the manual says but this is only until the main jets take over (No 6 on the drawing). These will probably need to be bigger if you have installed k&ns.

I tune out the mix screws with a "Color tune".
Its a see through spark plug tool that allows you to see the firing of the spark as it happens.
You want a blue flame or close to it.

Your carbs need to go back to the bench.
Wet-set the floats, polish the pivot pins, buff the "seat" of the "needle and seat" with a sharpened golf TEE. Get the functionality of the floats right, then proceed on to plug chops/ColorTune.

But while the carbs are off, you can double-check the Pilot circuits to make absolutely sure that they are free and clear.

get a torch tip file set and MANUALLY clean the carbs, you need to have clear passages.

if you search around here someone started a jetting database thread for those of us running open intakes and exhausts. it will give you an idea of what jets to start with. you will need to do some trial and error to get it perfect though.

Thanks everybody for the replies! This time I'll manually clean the carbs instead of the ultra-sonic way. I'll keep you posted when I'm ready (and hopefully with some succes!).
