Instead of fiddling around with my 30 y/o speedo I pulled the cable out (after it quit working and replacing it 3 times) and came up with a good ( I think ) MOD.

Im sure there is a very expensive bracket I can buy for $59.99 but I used something that I have on hand.

This is a bicycle air pump hanger for a mountain bike. I heated the clasping arms to straighten them out. They mount velcro's onto the handle bars much the same way it did on the bicycle frame tube.

Next, I put velcro on to the back of my iPhone 4 case to stick onto the pump hangers arms I straightened out.

The iPhone slips on and off easily but not easy enough for the bumps wind to affect it. I have a 12volt plug to keep it charged on board the bike.

I can even position it to perform a HEADS UP DISPLAY for easy night driving.

The apps I use have trip meter that figures MPG and Maps for getting around in unknown territory.
Can your 30 year old speedometer do that?

If you did not use "Industrial Grade" Velcro (in most stores) I would.

Other than that the Heads Up was cool :)

It'll go in my pockets if I get caught in the rain.

The case I use on my Iphone speedo is water proof, I just do not know the name of it. The I also tryed the otter box, but after a while the mount it comes with begins to get loose. Although I haven't treid the newer otter box. You might have better luck with that one.

Though I am a fan of the no windshield method, I LOVE the HUD. Now if I could only put one inside my helmet...

Hey Bill, sounds like you've got another problem to work out for the masses. Cool trick with the heads up
As far as the rain, put Velcro on the back of a zip-loc sandwhich bag.

I'm using a sort of rubbery gum to stick my HTC to the middle of the speedo. I got it from a friend that works in a paint shop... It is easily shaped when warm, and sticks to things very well. Plus, it absorbs vibrations from the road.

It sounds like Permabond, or perma gum. It is a black sticky gummy like stuff. If it is the same stuff lol.

Yeah, only I don't know why they put the "perma" in there, it's not permanent, hehehe

Yeah, not sure. I use it alot on the airplanes I built for a bunch of different things. Mainly sealing spots to keep moister out.
