Alright I just wanted some confirmation on this. I press my starter switch and now nothing happens. I held it down and after probably 10-15 seconds it makes a little cough noise. Yes it's in neutral, yes the kill switch is thrown to the on position and yes my carbs are getting fuel. I replaced my faulty coil with another working coil when that went a couple weeks ago (cylinders 1 & 4). (If this somehow helps...I also put a new Mac 4-into-1 exhaust on it of course forgetting to pry out my old gaskets and throw new copper ones in. So yes when I ran it, it leaked.)

The reason I'm telling you all this is in hopes that it might give you some clues as to what you might think it would most likely be. The bike turns on, the low and high beams work great and all the turn signals flash as they should. Indicating, as I would presume, that the battery is in good shape charge wise. The starter doesn't click so I assume either a wire went loose or it's just done altogether. Any help, advice, or suggestions etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like starter switch (button). Lots of times you can just clean it and it will work. I think I would start there.

No, not even a click. I'm going to try cleaning the switch and then just run through the wiring with my multimeter if that fails to produce results. Thanks and I'll post an update later.

Alright so this is an update I checked all my wiring and re-connected all points cleaned the starter switch and nothing happened. Checked everything with a multimeter and everything checked out. Still nothing. Checked the starter solenoid with the multimeter...turned the ignition on, switched the kill to ON and pushed the starter button and it magically came to life. Gotta love 28 year old bikes.

Gotta love 28 year electrical connections!

The problem was most likely corrosion/oxidation on the electrical connections. When you cleaned them you fixed the problem.

It's a shame your not closer to me. I would almost be tempted to take that CB650 off your hands.

Yeah I'll have to take a picture of the electrical work that was "redone" since the second guy that I bought it from had it. The ignition is the best. Gotta love a key less start.
