    Well i finaly pulled off the square headlight today. Bought a 7 inch round emgo. I already have a bar mount master cylinder on my 750 seca, the question is. How do i fit all that wire in the bucket. I would appreciate anyone who has done this before let me know what they did. I am contemplating buying some sort of rectangular plastinc box and stuffing the wire in it and mounting it somehow behind the bucket. any ideas would be great.

    I have just bought some Dominator lights for my XJ750, so will need to do the same thing. Most of the trouble will be where to fit the damn thing.

    I was thinking I could pull back the harness to get rid of 10-15 cms (4-6").
    Still need to fit two relays in there possibly unless I move those back under the seat as well.

    Sort the various sets of wires into neat bundles, and "train" them to lay around the outside periphery of the shell. The 550 Seca has wiring for a fuel gauge and a voltmeter plus I run a headlight modulator with a Halogen headlight, and it all fits. But it wouldn't if the wires weren't neatly arranged.

    Hmmm... what about eliminating wires altogether that aren't in use any longer? All my bike has wired up are head/tail light and all four flashers. No indicators for anything gas, oil, kickstand, volts, nada! I am new to XJ's and Yamaha's in general. I read the manual and couldn't believe all the crap that came out of the factory telling you everything you needed to know while you rode the damn thing. Any suggestions? Or is it as simple as I think it is (i.e. cut wire, wire nut and tape to the side somewhere)?

    I'm in the middle of the same here. Have most everything bypassed and tucked away. In the planning stages of the end all be all solution, scratch built custom minimal harness.

    When I changed to a round headlight and smaller speedometer ('82 750 Seca) with help of a wiring diagram, I labeled all the wires that weren't going to be used anymore, and tucked them away behind the new headlight and covered them with a black plastic cover I made.
    I'm pretty much old school and don't need all the added safety crap on my bike. The computer monitor was pretty useless to me (OK, the gas gauge was nice) I like to keep things simple and the less I have on the bike, the less that can go wrong.
    I now have headlight, tailight, signals. I made my own speedometer mount with four LED lights to indicate the two turn signals (amber) high beam (blue) and nuetral (green) The side stand switch and clutch lever switch is still operable, so I left it as is, until the time when/if it gives me trouble. In that case I will probably just eliminate them from the curcuit also.
    I got rid of alot of the plastic conectors, (which can become problematic with moisture and corrosion over time) and soldered the wires together to eliminate any electrical problems down the road.
    There's a mile of wire in the harness that that can be eliminated, which gets complicated when trouble shooting a problem, so I wanted to simplify things a bit. I feel more confident now when riding on long trips.
