Does anybody know the outside diameter is the valve shims that are on the maxim x? The reason I'm asking is that I have seen kits online that are sold for the fz700,fzx750,fz1000,etc which also has the 20 valve gensis engine, and they claim their kits contain valve shims (7.48mm OD) for these bikes? Just curious as if they would fit the Maxim X?

Oh....I probably wouldn't try that without talking to Chacal. Send him a PM I'd be interested in knowing the answer. Also, there's a Maxim-X valve shim pool maintained by the webmaster at www.maxim-x.com (guy named Harald in Canada). He's never mentioned alternative shims so I'm skeptical there's a substitute.

Yeah I am kind of skeptical about those aswell. I think they were called "hotcams" kit or something. If you are going at it just as well do it right and get the proper gear. Just curious as if the valve shims from a fazer or FZ would fit, basically same genesis engine. Thanks for the reply.
