Do you have Accel Performance Coils on your bike?

If so will you provide a review of the Install procedure and Performance of the Accel Motorcycle Coils you put-on?

Were they a straight fit or did they require some fabrication with bracketing?
Do you notice a marked improvement inthe way your bike performs?

    Thank you,

    Rick Massey

I installed Accel coils years ago, about 1989 as I recall. The brackets included with my kit worked just fine. I had to rig up primary wires but that was only crimping on some ring terminals to my old coil wires. Bike started more easily and reliably but as for power, my can couldn't tell the difference. I'll shoot some pictures when I put them back on the Seca.

I installed Accel kit 140403 on my XJ750J as the old coils were out of spec and cracked.
The kit comes with brackets and mounts.
There is not much room under the tank to work with but cutting of 1/2" of the end of the brackets allowed quite easy installation.
I had to remove the metal tab that mounts the flasher relay and relocate the relay above and forward of the horns.
I used the original connectors with the new coils.
I inadvertently mounted the two black ground wires that originally mounted to the coil center bar to the new coil center pieces. When I started it up my computer freaked out, the tach wouldn't work and the turn signals ceased to work.
After some quick forum support the two black ground wires that originally mounted to the coil center bar were mounted in the hole the old coils bolted in.
The part that took the most time was figuring out how to fit all that crap in there and still clear the tank and valve cover.

The most obviuos difference is starting up. It fires right up now and idles well right off the bat.
There is a noticable increase in pull-especially at higher RPMs.
A quick read of the plugs and a couple chops reveal a leaner mixture.

Over all the swap was pretty easy- bring on the cold damp mornings!

    Maz

I installed a set on my XS11. I could have used the hardware that came with the kit but I made some simple brackets and mounted them in the stock location with the stock mounting hardware. Installation was simple. The kit comes with everything needed to install except wiring. Great kit , I would recommend it to others.
Things I noticed after new coils:
    Easier starting
    Smoother idling
    Noticable increase in power

We offer an aftermarket coils installation kit that includes mounting adapter brackets and a replacement flasher relay hanging bracket (since you do have to cut off the original frame tube bracket to get these larger aftermarket coils to fit).

Although they were made for the Dyna coils, I think they'll work in the same manner with the Accel coils (I assume that the Accell coils have the same center-to-center mounting hole distance as the Dyna coils, and have the mounting holes rotated 90-degrees from the stock coils mtg. hole orientation..........which is why the adapter brackets are needed in the first place!).

While I was doing the install I compared the holes on the Accel coils and the original coils.
They both have the same center to center hole pattern.

Guys, can someone post some clear pics of the installation of their aftermarket coils (ie. Accel, Dyna, etc)? I would like to see the mounting brackets that you have come up with and the flasher realy repositioning.
    Thanks
    Jamie
