Hey XJers, heres one for you all. Today I took my beautiful girlfriend on her first motorcycle ride ever. Shes always been afraid of bikes but after knowing me, shes become interested. My old helmet fit her perfectly & I took her for a nice ride thru some quiet country roads. My Seca & I took it real slow & easy as to not scare her right away. She really liked the ride & wants more. Cant ask for a better first time than aboard an XJ! Thanks again to all who helped me solve some problems with my bike. Happy trails to all

That's pretty cool....my finace` had never ridden either and now she loves going for a ride whether its just going for a quick 50 miler or going camping for the weekend at Skyline Drive. Funny but after nearly 4 years after her first ride, she still has her "nervous" days where I can feel her fear. I too have always ridden very gently and smoothly with her on the bike out of defference for her fears. I just try to deal with it.

I have only ridden on the back of a bike one time in my entire life and to me, there isn't hardly anything as frightening as riding on the back. The passenger has no control over what the rider does yet can be injured, or worse, just as easily as the rider. I think that remembering how scared I was while on the back, it helps me understand her fear.

You guys are doing it right. The reason a lot of females are scared to ride,is that alot of guys TRY to scare them. Once they have had the S%$t scared out of them on their 1st ride , it's hard to get them to trust you. I have introduced many to motorcycles, and if you take them for an easy enjoyable ride.....they will love it.

I ride to get away from the wife....

I did get her on a bike, trike actually it was all she'd agree to, in Vegas a few years back. Picked it up from the rental place, get on the freeway taking it nice and easy so she'll enjoy it. Tow truck two lanes over blows a tire and thows giant rubber chunks over top of us. She wasn't much interested after that but she stuck it out for remaining rental time and a couple hundred miles.

I have asked my wife to ride with me several times over the years but she has always declined because she thought my X was too small for us both. Last Sunday I came home after riding about 200 miles and out of the blue she asks me to take her riding. So I got out the old helmet and off we went. She loved the ride but hated the helmet so I stopped at a local shop and bought her a new one that fit properly. We ended up riding about 100 more miles that afternoon. Now she keeps asking when we are going riding again! I think she is hooked.
