Tell him that it was crashed as it was and it needs the tank fixed and that will be expensive to fix.
Also tell him that it's for your mom and she needs it to get to the church to play bingo.

    lol

I could think of a number A LOT lower than $1800 that I wouldn't go higher than.

Nice dent in the first pic

The "dent" is the reflection of the mirror.

Can't really tell from the pics if its a 700 or 750, it should be marked on the cylinder jugs. Its still a nice bike and i would not let it pass without closer examination.
Are you still going to get the Victory BillB?

I wouldn't want to buy a bike off those pictures, they wouldn't even get me there to take a propper look.

Thats why I said it could be a frankenstein bike. If you want me to go into details... They could have used a 750cc engine from a older seca.
It is really hard to tell from this guys pics. He is a old fart that knows nothing about digital photography.

They sold the 85/86 xj750 into canada so not SO rare.

They are identical to the U.S. version XJ700 with a different crank and connecting rods being the only difference I believe....and probably different jets in the carb along with the kilometer speedo

Hard to tell from the pics, but I wouldn't go above $1500 either and no-where near that if it doesn't run well.

Bill, it's got 11000 miles on it and the motor has likely never been touched.

THE FIRST THING you'll need to do is adjust the valves.

OK, second after you check the rear brake.

I also appears that it may have the original tires but it's hard to tell. It's NOT "ready to ride" it has too few miles for its age. Plan on $600 minimum for a proper recommissioning, all the standard stuff is gonna need to be done. You know, brakes, tires, valves, CARBS. It's right at the end of it's "forget it and ride it" mileage; time for some long-neglected maintenance.

Don't expect a turn-key proposition just because the guy wants way too much.

I was poking fun at his listing it as a Maximum, rather than Maxim.

The bike was not all there and very rough. They could not even get it to start. I took a video of the whole deal.
Will post it on a new thread later on today.

If it werent so far a drive Bill you could have a 750 seca for a fraction of the cost. lol but the mileage wouldnt make it feasable

I agree with DesingerMike....the 85/86 750' were available outside of the US. You'd have to check the front of the jugs/head to see what the cc size is to determine what the engine is. At just pictures level...it's a 700. Why do I say that? The speedo is in mph, not Kph. If it were a Canadian 750 the speedo should be in Kilometers.

yes, of course, it can be a Frankenbike, so verify numbers.

I believe from the pics its the correct engine looking at the carb covers. I am sure they would work on the older 750 motor but the crank covers look correct. Never realized til tonight the 85 motors were silver and the 86s were black. Didn't you just sell your 650 It must have had a bunch of miles on it. The air cooled 700 is a more refined bike. Hopefully you can get it cheap enough to justify putting 400 or 500 bucks more in it. tires ect. I paid $500 for my maxim x 18 k miles. Did a lot of cleaning detailing ect. Can't add in my labor but up to now about $700 in it. Still have to buy the parts to completely rebuild the carbs which will be another $200
