Ok, you guys were great in helping me with my electronics but now I have a new problem, I got this bike last year off a guy who had it in his bran lying down, not being taken care of anyways I got it running OK but there was just a little clicking I thought it needed the lifters adjusted, this year it sounded a little louder, I got around to checking the oil filter, not really bad, I cleaned it and put it back and put in some fresh oil, the next day it sounded a little louder so I went to change the oil, when I took the screw out NO OIL??? Oil cap was out, bike upright, NO OIL, so I put what the book says, 2.5 qurts and started it up well in about 10 sec. oil started coming out the air breather side, I have cone filters so it has a cap where the breather pipe would go.
can anybody tell me what is wrong
    Thank You
    Garry

did you have it on the center stand when checking levels? should be a small bubble ay top of the site glass on the right side of the motor towards the bottom. sounds to me that it has way to much oil in it. also never clean the oil filter always change. only 5 bucks. also check back brake for delamination. would also check the valve clearances could have some blow by. hope you figure it out and be safe

Yikes! No oil out ofthe sump with oil topped off?
I would never recommend the reuse of an oil filter unless you just pulled it with 5 minutes on it (and not during break in). They are not expensive and I'm curious as I'll get out as to why you pulled yours and checked it rather than replace it. What is it that you saw that said to you that it was ok? How did you clean it?
You didn't mention if you had checked the oil level on the sight glass so I'm also curious as to how you knew you had sufficient oil in it after you swapped out the old oil. If you can see oil in the sight glass, you should not need to add the extra 2.5 qts.
Oil puking out of the air filters means you have overserviced your crankcase and the engine is pumping out oil. Drain that sucker and get the correct level of oil in there. If you are not getting any oil out of the sump when you pull the drain plug, you have some work to do. Try (after setting up a large catch basin) to poke a screwdriver into the sump through the oil drain plug. It may be that you have a clot of buildup blocking the exit. IF that doesn't work (or even if it does), you NEED to pull the sump and find out what gives.
